Xeno Jar is an entry I made for LOWREZJAM 2019

Xeno Jar invites the player to discover new species of alien within a jar full of dormant seeds and embryos. By changing the abiotic conditions of the jar, the player may be lucky enough for alien (xeno) species to emerge.

The player scores by registering the discovery of the new species and can speed along the transformative development, embryogenesis, of the individual.

The player can also access the jarpedia, where information about each species is held and registered upon the player's discoveries.

The tutorial in Xeno Jar is my first attempt at implementing a tutorial in a game and could be improved but with the time-constraints of the jam this will have to wait.

Controls:

SCROLL over remote buttons to change conditions of the jar/screens on jarpedia.

LEFT CLICK on a xeno to register a discovery.

LEFT CLICKS  on a xeno to speed along embryogenesis.

RIGHT CLICK on a xeno to access the jarpedia page for that xeno species.

MIDDLE CLICK on a xeno to destroy the xeno.

PRESS R to destroy all xenos in the jar.

Post-JAM

After the jam rating period is over and I have received feedback, I will write up a short post-mortem and will include how I could further develop the game without the time-constraints of the game jam.

The idea looks cool but seriously, a button to skip the dialog would make such a huge improvement.

Thanks, noted and will get onto it :)

very cool idea but the tutorial is .001x the rate i'd wanna go and it doesn't seem to work WITHOUT the tutorial...?

you can skip the tutorial :)

doesn't seem to work for me unless I go through the tutorial. I might also just be stupid

I like the idea ♥. But is possible the downloaded version or playing in other window?. Is hard play the game here if i have to scroll x.x

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. For now, there is a fullscreen option button, which fixes the issue.

The fullscreen button doesn't work for me. I use firefox. Maybe that can be the problem?

Maybe, I shall investigate. Thank you again for making me aware of this.
